Wrong title displayed when sharing my site link

    Hello,

I realized while sharing the link of my site by message that the pre-rendering displayed a wrong title (the basic title of my template) instead of the real title of my site.

I’ve put in sensitive data, which is the wrong title, the title that should be displayed and how the rendering is displayed when I post the site link.

I’ve already checked what the title was in the wordpress settings, in the title of my theme (flatsome), as administrator user name, but it’s the right title every time.

I therefore suspect that the problem lies with Rank math.

So I went to the Title & Metas options in Rank math, then to homepage, and all I got was this message:

“Static page is set as the front page (WP Dashboard > Settings > Reading). To add SEO title, description, and meta for the homepage, please click here: Edit Page: (Good name for my home page)”

It redirects me to my home page and at this point, when I adjust the meta options with rank math, I don’t see anything displaying the wrong title.

So I’m stuck and don’t know where to find the title to remove.

Would you know how to fix this?

Thank you in advance for your help.

  • Hello,

I’m sorry to hear about the issue you’re facing with the wrong title being displayed when sharing your site link. Thank you for providing detailed information about the problem.

Based on the details you’ve shared, it seems like the incorrect title issue might be related to the meta settings in Rank Math. To resolve this, you can follow these steps:

    1. Go to your WordPress Dashboard and navigate to Rank Math > Titles & Meta > Homepage.
    2. Check the SEO Title and Description settings for your homepage in Rank Math.
    3. Ensure that the correct title and description are entered in the respective fields.
    4. Save any changes made to update the meta information for your homepage.

If you suspect that the wrong title is being picked up from somewhere else, you can also check if there are any conflicting settings in your theme or other plugins that might be affecting the title display.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that this issue might have caused.

Onchecking your site’s homepage source code(see image in the sensitive data section) we can see that the page’s SEO title is “Sänghimmel: Det svenska riktmärket för Sänghimlar” and the description is “Butiken som specialiserat sig på Sänghimlar. För spädbarn, barn och vuxna. Perfekt för en god natts sömn med avskildhet och komfort! Upptäck den nu!”

Is this different from what you had configured in the page’s Rank Math meta box?

We look forward to hearing back from you.

    Thanks.

    Hello Ike,

    Many thanks for your feedback.

I was able to see your imgur link and in fact in my explanations, I was not talking about this title.

I apologize if my explanations were not clear.

I uploaded you a screenshort through another imgur link in the sensitive data so that you can see what bad title is placed on the link pre-display when shared on social networks.

Here’s a screenshot of the problem.

Here are some new modifications I’ve made:

Checking the source code, I realized that the problematic title was located at this line:

    <meta property=”og:site_name” content=”Bad site name” />

Searching assiduously in rankmath’s options at the Title&Meta level, I came across the Local SEO option and the titles present in this option were no good, so I changed them.

Refreshing the page, emptying the site’s cache (with wp rocket) and my browser’s cache, the problem with this topic hasn’t yet been solved, but I can see that the og:site_name line of code now contains the correct title.

I’m wondering if I shouldn’t just wait for it to update, maybe it’ll resolve itself thanks to the latest modifications.

I’ll be on the lookout to check it out.

    Hello,

    Thank you for your patience.

Sure, let us know how this goes.

We’ve also checked the meta tags and schema data, the correct title is already showing. You may give it some time for social apps to clear the cache and update the title as well.

    Looking forward to helping you.
