Will RankMath’s NoFollow External Links affect urls in ads?

    Hi, I have a website with thousands of pages and over a million visitors per month. The last SEO person on this site left all external links as dofollow and I want to change that to NoFollow site wide. I see a setting in RankMatch to change them all at once, but I want to make sure that all the ads on the site that is fed through JS will not be affected. It wont inject a nofollow attribute in urls nested inside the JS Code, right?

    My next question is about adding links later that I may want to mass link juice to. Can I go to any page and make a single link a dofollow link if I have the nofollow external links option turned on sitewide?

    Hello,

    Thank you for contacting us and bringing your concern to our attention.

    The nofollow attributes are dynamically applied when the content is displayed so if your ads links are displayed as an anchor tag, they will be counted as an external link. In this case, you can use the Nofollow Exclude Domains option to whitelist your ad links.

    The attribute is actually added on the fly and the stored content is not changed. You can exclude the URLs from Rank Math > General Settings > Links or you’ll have to edit the HTML of that link and add the appropriate rel tag

    Thanks for the reply. Ok so let me make sure I understand. Are you saying the current external links won’t change to nofollow when I turn the feature on and that it only counts for new external links?

    Hello,

    No, once you enable the feature, all your external links will be affected (even the old posts/pages with external links), including your new/future external links on your content.
