why does my homepage show up in the 404 monitor?

I have RankMath on several sites and in the 404 monitor on almost all of them I see the homepage URL (typed correctly) showing up. My sites have almost no downtime (hosted on BigScoots) so I don’t know why it would be reporting a 404 error on the home pages.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

    Jeff

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

If you see your homepage URL in the 404 Monitor, it means that some bots are trying to access this URL: https://yourdomain.com/yourdomain.com

This is because all of the 404 errors are relative to the homepage, so you can safely ignore those and go about your day.

If the error was on your homepage, you would see only a forward slash in the log /

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you.
