Two formats of structured data markup on same page

    Rank Math free

    Hi,
I was unable to post my query previously as I kept getting blocked due to code I had added here instead of pastebin. I also sent an email with my query to s******@r*********** this morning but haven’t had a reply yet. Here is my query again:

I have RankMath free but haven’t configured it yet. I am using the GeneratePress Theme (Premium) and GenerateBlocks.

My Website Test at Sitechecker came up with the following warning under Code Validation:
Page contains different structured data formats (17 pages)

    More info from sitechecker:
Pages contain two or three possible formats of structured data markup implementing: JSON-LD, Microdata, RDFa. Use only one format to avoid structured data markup issues.
Google recommends to use JSON-LD format.

Please see the Sensitive Data window for the secret access link to my website.

Please see https://pastebin.com/t6hD0QCF for the parts of my website code (Home page) that were highlighted in sitechecker and relate to my structured data. The numbers above each snippet are the line numbers in the code for easy find.

How can I solve this issue? Is this something I need to worry about? Could it cause issues later on?

    Thanks!

  • Hello,

Thank you for your query and we are so sorry about the trouble this must have caused.

The issue is not with Rank Math as our plugin is always using JSON-LD only. We don’t use microdata markup so there may be another plugin or theme that is adding that extra non-JSON schema.

However, checking the code you shared, it could be that the microdata markup is coming from your theme. To confirm that, you may test another theme by switching to a default theme like Twenty-Twenty-One. You can check the view source of your homepage to if the markup is no longer there after switching themes.

You may use this guide to ensure that your users are not affected by the troubleshooting process: https://rankmath.com/kb/check-plugin-conflicts/

Only the site admin would know and your users won’t be affected by this troubleshooting.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Hi Jeremy,
The microdata is created by my theme GeneratePress.
Would it cause problems with RankMath?
Would mixing microdata and JSON-LD on the same page cause any conflicts?

    Thanks!

    Hello,

It is recommended to use one plugin to handle all the Schema. Since our plugin is adding all the required Schema, you can disable the Schema of GeneratePress to avoid any conflicts.

Let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

Thanks for your reply and the info.

The Schema that was set via GeneratePress was done automatically, I didn’t input any of this manually. Would it be a lot of work to replace this info in RankMath after disabling it? Does RankMath also have auto setting/filling of Schema info or do I have to enter everything manually?

How do I disable the Schema of GeneratePress?

I still have to setup RankMath. If I have any additional questions then I will let you know. Could you please leave this post open to I can reply later.

    Hello,

Our plugin adds the default Schemas automatically to the site once you have entered the details in WP Dashboard > Rank Math > Titles & Meta > Local SEO.

You should get in touch with the support of GeneratePress as there is no option in the theme settings to disable the Schema. They will be able to help you disable the microdata added by the theme.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch in case you need any other assistance.

    Hello,

Since we did not hear back from you for 15 days, we are assuming that you found the solution. We are closing this support ticket.

    Thank you.
