    Hi,

I have been trying to save the description in the Rank Math SEO tab by clicking update and it doesnt work.

I have already downloaded the health check for the plugin conflicts, checked the firewall of wordfence and changed it to learning mode, its also not being blocked so no errors there, connected Rank Math to Google Analytics 4, cleared the cache, tried on another browser like Edge and…

I still receive this message in the Console – “Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 () /wp-json/rankmath/v1/an/post/undefined?_locale=user:1 .

Perhaps you can show me how to fix this, in this case, if its unique or point me in the right direction?

    Cheers,

    Karl Froberg

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

If the meta description is not getting saved then we suggest you while saving the metadata, please keep the browser console open in the “Network” tab and see what is the status code of the following route: https://www.yourdomain.com/wp-json/rankmath/v1/updateMeta?_locale=user

You can find the browser console in your browser following this guide: https://balsamiq.com/support/faqs/browserconsole/

If it’s returning any other value than a 200, there’s something wrong with the route and we would request you to get in touch with your hosting provider to make sure that REST APIs are not getting blocked.

However, if it returns 200 then we might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.

Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.
    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.

    Hi Rakibuzzaman!

I spoke to bluehost and they mentioned that they have checked my account and there is no any IP blocked from BlueHost, and that I shoould contact you to provide server requirements of Rank Math SEO plugin.

So, then they can check if Rank Math SEO plugin server requirements supported in BlueHost or not.

    Thanks,

    Karl Froberg

Hi, Upon checking apparently the requirements fits the needs here https://rankmath.com/kb/requirements/ and its already enabled

Is there any reason why its not working?

    Hello,

The 403 response you received indicates that a plugin or your server is still blocking the API route which handles the saving of our plugin’s meta information.

I can confirm that it is Wordfence that is blocking the said API route.

In this case, please refer to this guide to help you whitelist the route from Wordfence: https://rankmath.com/kb/whitelist-rank-math-in-wordfence/

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need my assistance with anything else.

    Hello,

We would like to check this further on your website but the login information you shared is not working.

Can you please verify from your end so we can debug this further?

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

    Hello,

    Thank you for your patience.

I’ve tried updating the description on your test post, and it seems to be working fine. Also, the route to save the metadata is already returning 404, which means that it should be working already.

Please also refer to the screencast in the sensitive data section.

Could you please confirm if there’s a different page where it is still not working?

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Hi Reinelle,

It still does not work. I dont know what I should try. Can put test on one of my pages through the “edit wiht elementor”

It does not work in the “About us” section nor does it work in the “Contact” page section and I know it does not work in the other pages as well.

I am curious to see how you solved it and saved it, because every time I refresh the page or exits the “edit with elemntor” section and go back to “edit with elementor”, the supposed saved description disappears.

    Looking forward to resolving this.

    THanks,

    Karl Froberg

    Hello,

The updateMeta route is still getting blocked on your site and since WordFence is not blocking it then your server’s firewall must be doing it. Please get in touch with your host and ask them to whitelist the updateMeta route to fix the issue.

Let us know how that goes. Looking forward to helping you.

    hi Rankmath,

I think the problem is with your end, I have spoken to bluehost and they insist it is with you guys. Here is a screen shot – https://imgur.com/a/7zEGKP5.

Please help me fix this, I plan to stay with Rank Math for the long term with many websites and maybe even upgrade to Premium within this or next year. But if you can’t resolve this, I’d have to uninstall Rank Math.

    Thanks,

    Karl Froberg

    Hello,

We do apologize for the inconvenience.

It’s actually the hosting as you can see in the screenshot I’ve sent over at the Sensitive Data Section.

As seen there, it looks like Cloudflare is blocking the request via Bluehost.

You can also try and replicate this on your end and check if it’s the same as well.

First, open the Dev tools (It looks like you already know how to open the Dev tools based on your screenshot) and keep them open.

Once that’s done, refresh the page first while the Dev tools are still open.

Second, try to save/update the Meta description. Once done, head on over to the Network tab and click on the function that’s returning a 403 error (In this case, it should appear at the bottom of the list).

Third, click the function that’s glowing red. Once done, click on Preview, take a screenshot, and then send it to your hosting. Your hosting should be able to do something about this.

Please check the screenshot I’ve sent as well to show how the final screenshot should look like

We really look forward to hearing back from you. Thank you.
