Title and meta descriptions not shown in SERPs

Hi there! I have configured titles and meta descriptions in all the URLs from my website (https://camaradeportiva.info) making use of the RankMath WP plugin in the Guttemberg editor and following the steps indicated in this video: https://rankmath.com/kb/seo-meta-tags/

However, Google displays the original titles and meta descriptions instead the ones I have been crafting manually. I have double checked that it is not about an indexing issue, I mean, Google already has indexed the most recent versions of my URLs, so it seems that something is preventing Google to fetch the titles and meta descritptions from the RankMath WP plugin.

I’m sharing a couple of screenshots to represent this issue with one of the URLs affected (the same problem seems to affect all URLs in my site)

Could you please let me know how to solve this?

    Thanks and regards!

  • Hello, I’m sorry to hear that you’re experiencing issues with your titles and meta descriptions not showing up in the SERPs as expected. It’s frustrating when Google displays different titles and descriptions than the ones you’ve set up using Rank Math.

It’s great that you’ve already checked for indexing issues and confirmed that Google has indexed the most recent versions of your URLs. This narrows down the issue to something else preventing Google from fetching the titles and meta descriptions from Rank Math.

To address this, we need to ensure that your schema settings are valid and that the title and description are properly set in the page’s source code. You can follow the steps outlined in our knowledge base articles to verify these settings:

    1. Ensure Your Schema Settings Are Valid
    2. Check the Title/Description Set in the Page’s Source Code

By following these steps, you can confirm that your SEO title and description are correctly set up via Rank Math and are being used for your page’s structured data. Additionally, checking the title and description in the page’s source code will help identify any discrepancies.

If you continue to experience issues after verifying these settings, please provide us with the screenshots you mentioned, and we’ll be happy to assist you further.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and we appreciate your patience as we work to resolve this issue for you.

Hi again, I’ve double checked the resources provided by the bot, but still facing this issue. I’ve put together an illustrative example of the issue I’m experiencing in the following link: https://docs.google.com/document/d/177fMWNmw32Fh_hgbWIumHNQugzlDQRrpoK7rRkB3WiI/edit?usp=sharing

Hope it facilitates the resolution fo this issue.

    Hello,

Thanks for contacting us, and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

We checked your website homepage with the site: operator and we can see that the meta title and description you set have been updated on Google as shown in the images below:

    Google Search Engine Result:

    Page Source Image:

Checking using Rank Math Meta Tag Analyzer: https://rankmath.com/tools/meta-tag-analyzer/

Please note that even when everything is set up correctly, Google may choose to display a different meta title and description for search query results. Google may skip the custom metadata you have set and instead display something from the page’s content that better matches the search intent. What to show in search results is solely determined by Google.

Please check the KB and you will understand the reasons Google does this: https://rankmath.com/kb/different-meta-title-and-description/

Also, Google has made some changes to their algorithm which automatically changes the titles, discarding the one you have set in your SEO title meta tag. This happens regardless of the SEO plugin you are using. We have covered this Google update here:

    https://rankmath.com/google-update/google-title-rewrite-update/

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

    Thank you.

Thanks for your complete reply. However, it was not useful at all, unfortunately. I had already gone through the options you mentioned, without any success. The point was that I had manually configured titles and descriptions in the rankmath plugin but they were not being shown correctly neither in the SERPs nor in the source code.
In any case, it seems that, whatever was happening, has been fixed with the last update of the plugin (Kudos to the dev team for that!) Now the titles and descriptions are being displayed according to what has been configured in each one of the individual pages and posts. I only have to wait that Google crawls the web once again and check if it still keeps them or rewrite them.
    Thanks and regards!
