We’ve checked that sub-sitemap, and it is opening fine.
For initial troubleshooting, please ensure that you don’t have static XML sitemap files in your website’s root directory. Rank Math’s sitemaps are generated virtually/dynamically so there shouldn’t be any existing files.
Then, please follow the steps in this link to flush the sitemap cache:
1. Flush the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast:

2. Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this article: https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/
Lastly, please remove all your submitted sitemaps and submit your main sitemap index only:
https://rankmath.com/kb/submit-sitemap-to-google/

Thanks a lot! I did everything as you wrote.
Only now in one of the sections (https://onlinecourseseeker.com/stm-courses-sitemap.xml) it displays the error “Sitemap could not be read”. Can you please help?

Thank you for your patience.
That status means Google is unable to read the sitemap yet.
In this case, you may need to give Google some time to re-crawl it upon doing so. You can monitor the “Last read/crawl date” column in the sitemap index as it will update the date when Google crawls your sitemap.
