SureCart sitemap “couldn’t fetch” errors

    Hi,

I’ve been in touch with SureCart.com and they’ve suggested i reach out to you guys.

I am having several issues which i’ve never experienced before with RankMath.

Virtworx.com was launched about 5 years ago. The site was redone about 3 years ago and then again a new re-build began in summer of 2022 in which site was shelved and re-launch was delayed until Sept 23.

Site is built using Elementor’s “Hello” theme and Elementor and Elementor Pro plugins. I’ve now added shopping cart functionality through SureCart… and have also been adding roughly 30 blog posts over the past 2 months.

I am not an SEO expert but I have followed the Google Search Console rules and have created the GA4 property for Virtworx.

After having the site in Elementor’s “Maintenance” mode for the better part of the last year while i have been working on it, I finally re-submitted the sitemaps for GSC in early September and noticed there were initial “couldn’t fetch” errors on several of my RankMath generated sitemaps.

Initially i didn’t catch this as i have been working on other projects but thought it was a bit odd that the site had not been fully indexed by Google by now.

Now i’m seeing that the 2 sitemaps for SureCart which are 1) https://virtworx.com/sc_products-sitemap.xml AND 2) https://virtworx.com/sc_collection-sitemap.xml are also receiving “couldn’t fetch” errors.

I’ve reached out to SureCart on this and they have suggested i reach out to you guys since the problem (as they see it) is with the SureCart sitemaps which have been created through RankMath’s plugin.

As i mentioned, I am far from an SEO expert – so i must admit i am really not sure what it going on at this point as i have tried to follow your YouTube guide on setting up your plugin and settings properly.

Can someone please help me figure out how to correct these issues and get my site indexed as we are almost in November now.

    Thanks,

    Terry

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

We’ve checked your sc_products and sc_collection sitemap and we can see both of them are returning a 404 error. Also, these sitemaps are not included on your main /sitemap_index.xml.

In this case, please make sure these post types are set to index in your Rank Math > Titles & Meta also the Include in Sitemap option is enabled for these post types in Rank Math > Sitemap Settings.

Once done, please try to follow the steps below and see if that works for you:

    1. Flush the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast:
    https://i.rankmath.com/pipRDp

    2. Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this article:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/

After that, clear your website cache and resubmit the /sitemap_index.xml in the Search Console.

Let us know how it goes. Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.

    Hi Raki,

    Thanks for your response.

    1) Rank Math > Titles & Meta (YES – set to INDEX)
    2) Rank Math > Sitemap Settings (YES – Include in Sitemap)

No changes needed to be made bc they were already set this way as above per your suggestion.

    3) Flush the Sitemap cache (YES – these 2 steps in vid was already done previously and I have done again)
    4) I have already “disabled” ALL potential caching plugins including following:
    -Code Snippets (DISABLED)
    -Phast Press (DISABLED)
-Speed Optimizer by Siteground hosting (DISABLED)
    -WP Meteor (DISABLED)
    -WP-Optimize (DISABLED)

Furthermore, the only “LIVE” plugins i am running (while trying to get indexed) are:
    -Elementor
    -Elementor Pro
    -Forminator
    -Instant Indexing (Rank Math)
    -Rank Math
    -Security Optimizer by Siteground hosting
    -SEO Writing
    -Site Kit by Google
    -SureCart

NO other plugins are currently “Activated” while trying to become indexed.

I re-submit SureCart sitemaps like you instruct above and still receive “Couldn’t fetch” errors AFTER following your instruction above.

What should i do? (if you like access to back end of WP site – please let know and i will provide access if you need)

    Please advise.

    Thanks,

    Terry

    Hi Reinelle,

    Thank you for your response.

I have gone ahead and added an ADMIN un/pw for you guys to explore the issue further.

Please note that this issue I was having was not on with both of the “SureCart” (products/collection) sitemaps, but i’ve also noticed it seems like GSC is not picking up all of my Pages & Posts as well. I think they’ve gotten most of them – but there’s still like 3-4 pages that they aren’t picking up and maybe 2-3 blog posts as well. (?)

Please feel free to take a look around the back-end of the site to see if you guys can help me figure out where I have gone wrong. (?)

Thanks again for all of your help!!! MUCH APPRECIATED!!! 🙂

    Any updates guys? Thanks! 🙂

    Hello,

We have been able to replicate this on our end and we are now investigating it. We’ll get back to you when we have an update.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation

    Hello,

The reason this is happening is; the Product data is not stored in the WordPress posts table and hence the Sitemap is not showing those products.

We also tested the Surecart plugin with other SEO plugins, but it is not showing the sitemaps as well, could you please share this with the SureCart plugin team and let us know about their related response.

    Thank you
