Stop Titles from auto populating

I’m trying to stop the titles from being put in. I delete them and then save changes and then they are just back there. I read something about making changes to a rankmath.php file but I don’t see that file anywhere!

  • Hello,

I’m sorry to hear that you’re facing issues with the titles auto-populating in Rank Math. To prevent the titles from being automatically populated, you don’t need to edit any PHP files. You can manage this directly within the Rank Math plugin settings.

When you make changes to the titles and meta settings in Rank Math, ensure that you click on the “Save Changes” button at the bottom of each setting to save your modifications. If you navigate away from the settings area without saving, your changes will not be applied.

Here is a step-by-step guide to save your settings in Rank Math:

    1. Make the desired changes to the titles and meta settings.
    2. Click on the “Save Changes” button at the bottom of each setting.
      Click button to save changes
    3. Wait for a few seconds for the page to refresh, and you will see a confirmation message at the top of the screen indicating that your settings have been updated.
      Settings update confirmation

By following these steps, your changes should be saved successfully without the titles auto-populating. If you encounter any further issues or need additional assistance, feel free to reply here, and a human agent from our support team will assist you promptly.

Thank you for reaching out with your concern.

When I make the changes and hit “save changes” it shows me settings updated but still defaults back to the old setting—– so my changes never take. AS I mentioned, I delete the title tags, save the changes, and then it just goes back to the old set up again

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

For initial troubleshooting, please check if you are using a Firewall as it may prevent saving the changes. If you are using a Firewall, please whitelist this route:

    /wp-json/rankmath/v1/updateMeta

For more information on this issue, you can follow this guideline: https://rankmath.com/kb/meta-data-not-saving/

However, if you want to remove the <title> tag totally from your page source, it is not possible right now. You can change the <title> tag but can not remove it entirely.

Let us know how it goes. Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.

AS I have mentioned, I hit “save changes” and get the “settings updated” confirmation. And then it reverts back to having the old titles populated again.
