Yesterday evening, I was looking at the settings of Rank Math for my blog post. Today, I noticed that the title of my post is displaying the website name instead of the actual post title. I am curious about what went wrong. This issue is happening only on the mobile view, not on the Desktop. Could it be a bug in Google or some other problem, aside from Rank Math?

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

I’ve checked the affected URL, and there’s a duplicate title tag showing in the source code. Please refer to the screenshot in the sensitive data section.

In this case, the duplicate title tag could be coming from one of your plugins or active theme.

Assuming you are using the latest version of all the plugins and the themes (please update if not yet), to determine that, please follow this troubleshooting guide:

Here is a video you can follow as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FcIWRhcUP2c

Only the site admin would know and your users won’t be affected by this troubleshooting.

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you.

Thank you for your response. Firstly, I appreciate your reply. It appears that the issue you encountered may have been caused by the outdated version of RankMath Pro (version 3.02) and a vulnerability notice from my hosting provider. It seems that this outdated plugin was conflicting with my theme. Today, i updated my RankMath Pro theme version 3.0.39, but unfortunately, i am still experiencing the same problem of not displaying post titles on mobile devices. Hopefully, this issue will be resolved when Google updates its data.
and hope that will work as you advised to update plugin and theme. if any thing else tell me i try all last my things.

I try to change theme using troubleshooting and check from google there is no change still title is missing because of that my traffic is down please how to solve the problem ?

    Hello,

Thank you for getting back to us. We are sorry for the trouble this issue has caused you.

We have inspected your page source code again and we can confirm that the title tag is still appearing twice. As we previously suggested, to resolve this issue you’ll need to find out what is causing the duplicate title tag and remove it. Here are some steps you can follow to do that:

    • First, you need to switch to a default WordPress theme, such as Twenty Twenty-One, and deactivate all your plugins except Rank Math. This will help you isolate the problem and see if it is related to your theme or any of your plugins. To switch themes, go to Appearance > Themes in your WordPress dashboard, and activate a default theme. To deactivate plugins, go to Plugins > Installed Plugins, and deactivate all plugins except Rank Math.
    • Second, you need to clear your site cache and your browser cache. This will ensure that you are seeing the latest version of your page source code, without any cached data.
    • Third, you need to search for the tag in your page source code. You can see the page source code of any page by visiting view-source:<a href="https://yourwebsite.com/yourpage" rel="nofollow">https://yourwebsite.com/yourpage</a> in your browser. You can also right-click on any page and select View Page Source from the menu or press CTRL+U. Once you see the page source code, look for the tag and see if it appears once or twice. You can use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+F on Windows or Command+F on Mac to search for the tag easily.
    • If you see the <title> tag appearing only once, then congratulations! You have fixed the issue by switching themes and deactivating plugins. This means that either your theme or one of your plugins was causing the duplicate title tag. To find out which one, you can reactivate your theme and plugins one by one, and check the page source code after each activation. When you see the duplicate title tag again, you will know which theme or plugin is responsible for it. You can then contact the theme or plugin developer for support, or look for an alternative solution.
    • If you still see the <title> tag appearing twice, then we apologize for the inconvenience. This means that there is something else causing the issue, and we need to investigate it further. Please let us know if this is the case, and we will do our best to help you troubleshoot it.

We hope this helps you resolve the issue and remove the duplicate title tag from your page source code. If you have any other questions or concerns regarding Rank Math, please feel free to contact us again. We are always happy to help.

Thank you for choosing Rank Math!

I have noticed that currently, only one title tag appears in the source code now you check it. However, in the search engine results, only shows the website name is displayed. It is possible that Google will update this information later.
It’s worth mentioning that i havejust changed the theme to Twenty Twenty-One without deactivating any plugins this two title tag showing in the source code gone.

Based on this, it seems that the issue lies with your GeneratePress theme. Now, i am wondering what steps to take next. Should you permanently change the theme?
or should i do something with my generatepress theme?
and last when will google update these ?

    Hello,

From your screenshot, you should add the filter to disable the title tag from the GeneratePress theme.

Once done, you can still use that theme together with Rank Math and fix the conflicting issue with the title tag.

Usually, the themes add Title tags, which they should not. Rank Math adds the title and other meta tags on runtime and thus we do not modify the theme files.

Regarding the titles on the search results pages, you may need to give Google some time to recrawl your site and reflect the correct title tag you have in your page’s source code.

Unfortunately, there’s no definite time for Google to recrawl your site.

According to Google guidelines, crawling can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. The crawling and indexing of the website depend on the authority and crawl budget of the website.

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you.
