sitemap says couldn’t fetch on google webmasters

    I have had my sitemap up and working for 3 months, but it still says “couldn’t fetch” in google.

    Yes it is 100% valid and working, I have tested it on validators.

    Googlebot is able to access my site with no issues also.

    Tried literally everything from clearing cache, validating, reinstalling etc. Everything in the help page and nothing fixes it.

    This is JUST with rankmath sitemaps. If I install a different one, it works.

    Can anyone help?

    it’s been months so waiting isn’t fixing it either.

    Not using cache plugins etc.

    I have installed many wordpress sites over 20 years so I have high experience.

    Could you please confirm if you have already resubmitted your sitemap as /?sitemap=1?

    Also, please give Google some time to re-crawl it upon doing so. You can monitor the “Last read/crawl date” column in the sitemap index as it will update the date when Google crawls your sitemap.
