Sitemap – Exclusion of Posts/Pages/Tags

    Hi

Some of my posts/pages/tags are not properly indexed by Google.
I have stopped the indexing of tags, as recommended in the RankMath tutorial, however Google still crawls them and does not want to index them.
So, after reviewing the RankMath Tutorial, I have decided that I will exclude all posts/tags that I do not want visible on Google, so the sitemap does not give them anymore to google for review.

If I have the following link, as per RankMath tutorial:
    yourwebsite.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=1&action=edit

“Post=1” or just the number “1” should go in the field for post exclusion?
    Same with tags:
    yourwebsite.com/wp-admin/post.php?tag_ID=14343&action=edit

Do I need to insert the whole part “tag_ID=14343” or just the number “14343” in order to get these tags excluded successfully?

Sorry for asking over here, but its very clear for me in the tutorial.
    Many thanks
    Kind regards

Also, If I delete all my tags from the website, as there is no really a value for any of my website visitors as I have made them invisible, are they going to be automatically removed from the sitemap, or I still need to submit every tag ID one by one?

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting the support and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

You just need to enter the ID i.e. number to be excluded from the sitemap. As far as deleting the tags are concerned, I wouldn’t recommend that because it will create 404 error for those pages. Instead of deleting, I would suggest making all tags as “noindex” by navigating to Rank Math > Titles & Meta and in Tags make it “noindex”

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

    Thank you

So the tag id is “tag_ID=111” and in this case I need to input only the actual number “111”, rather than the whole “tag_Id=111”?

Yes, I will keep the tags for now.

Hopefully it will sort of my google search console after excluding them from the sitemap.

    Kind regards

    Hello,

Yes, that’s correct you just need to enter the number.
