Sitemap could not be read 'General HTTP error' - Support

Google Search Console is not crawling and indexing the pages because of a sitemap error. Pages and categories sitemap is fetched successfully, but Search Console is showing the “General HTTP Error” under the post sitemap.

One thing that I should tell you is that I am facing this issue today, but yesterday I was facing another issue that was “Robots.txt Unreachable”. However, I have solved this issue by editing the Robots.txt file.

Earlier the robots.txt file was disallowing something, so I edited it and allowed Google to crawl my website.

But after solving this issue (Robots.txt Unreachable), Google Search Console is not crawling my pages as it could not fetch the post sitemap.

Please help me solve this issue as early as possible.

We checked your page sitemap and we can see it is working properly without any issues. In this case, please try to follow the steps below and see if that works for you:

1. Flush the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast:

2. Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this article:
https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/

Once done, clear your website cache, remove all the submitted sitemap, and resubmit only the /sitemap_index.xml in the Search Console.
