site map – google says it is in html which is not supported

    Hi – I have site map set up inside my wordpress blog with Rank Math. I didn’t change any settings. Google console is having errors with the site map and says ” Your Sitemap appears to be an HTML page. Please use a supported sitemap format instead.”

    How can I change this?

    Hello,

    Thank you for contacting us about this issue.

    It sounds like you might have submitted the wrong sitemap to Google. The correct sitemap should be in this format: example.com/sitemap_index.xml. Make sure you replace example.com with your own domain name.

    If you already submitted the right format and you’re still getting the error, could you please share your sitemap link with me? I’ll take a look and see what’s going on.
