Showing Target keywords are not being used

    Rank Math free

    Hey,

Wondering if you can help. We are just in the process of trying to get changed from Yoast to Rank Math as we’ve been advised that it is much better.

However, upon installing and setting up with Rank Math, nearly all the posts are showing that the target keyword is not being used in meta description, introduction and the density is low. These were originally done with Yoast and I can see that the keywords are being used so I’m not certain why it doesn’t seem to be picking them up.

We’re still beginners at SEO so not 100% sure if we’ve integrated with Rank Math correctly and have the settings we require. Are you able to help iron out some of these creases?

Thank you for your time and help!

    Amy & Liam

  • Hello,

Thank you so much for getting in touch.

Please make sure that you have followed this guide to import the data correctly from Yoast: https://rankmath.com/kb/yoast-seo-migration/

I also checked some of the posts where a keyword is set. Please note that our plugin checks for the exact match of the keyword for the content analysis. So if you have used a variation of the keyword, it will not be considered.

    This post for example: https://www.plain2plane.com/first-timers-guide-to-london/

The keyword here is “First Timers Guide to London” while the meta description is “This is your guide for first timers to London. Everything you need to know and do while you’re visiting the city”.

The description doesn’t have the exact focus keywords and that’s why the test will fail. However, it is completely fine to use variations. Even if our plugin is not able to detect it, the search engines will still be able to detect it.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

    Hi Jaideep,

Thank you for checking this and getting back to us. Really appreciate that.

With the Yoast migration, for some reason, it gets to 97% and then fails. We tried to move over to Rank Math before and it done the same thing. It comes up in the script that there is an error. Is there a way to fix that or will it be okay to leave it the way we currently have it?

    Many Thanks,

    Amy & Liam
