Seperator and sitename not displaying on Google

    Hi,

I recently indexed my site on Google and I noticed the separator and sitename are not displaying in search results. Both %sep% %sitename% are included after my custom titles and the sitename is in my WordPress general settings. (Please note I am not using these on the home page but am using these on all inner pages)

For example, if you search site:precisiontherapymt.com you will see the Treatments page with the title “Physical Therapy Treatments” but it does not include the separator or the site name in the search results, but it appears as if it will when I edit my snipped in WordPress. Please see attached screenshot.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting the support and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

There’s limitation of 60 characters for the title that Google allows to show in search result page. The current title is more than 60 characters. That’s one of the major reason why it’s not showing %separator% %site%. I would suggest try reducing the characters or test it out in other page with title less than 60 characters.

Once, you’ve a page with title and site, try testing it out in URL inspection in Google Search console and see if it shows the proper titles and description.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

    Thank you

Okay, I have shorted the sitename to “Precision PT” so it’s less characters.

The thing is, some of my pages were under 60 characters, for example: https://imgur.com/PylrTkD
“Thomas Parkhill – Precision Physical Therapy & Sports Rehab” is 59 characters and the separator and sitename still didn’t display.

    Hello,

I’ve checked that page, and the title is “Thomas Parkhill — Precision PT”

You can also verify that using these tools:

Please note that Google sometimes ignores the custom meta info altogether and shows something from the page’s content that matches the search intent better. In this case, the best you can do is optimize your meta title and description to try and match the intent of the search/keyword.

You can refer to this guide as well:

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you.
