Schema Questions

    Hello Rankmath,

I LOVE the YouTube videos about Schema! They are mega informative so thank you for all that.

However, I have a couple of questions that aren’t answered on the blog and on the YouTube channel.

    I am a pro user.

    1) Rankmath automatically creates video schema. I use a lot of short MP4 videos directly embedded into my site for tutorials and stuff. Is it recommended to use schema for this? Or should I delete all the schema that is automatically created?

E.g. When I say ‘click on publish blog post’ I show a 2-second video on where to click.

    2) Rankmath automatically creates schema for YouTube videos that aren’t mine. Should I delete this?

    3) I created 10 YouTube videos which I want to index in my video sitemap. However, if I enable the sitemap it automatically adds hundreds of YouTube videos that aren’t mine and that I embedded on my site throughout the years. How do I fix this?

    4) If I write a software review review which is my primary schema? Article or software?

    5) Should I force-index after adding schema?

    Thank you in advance

  • Hello,

Thank you for reaching out with your questions about Rank Math and video schema. I’m glad to hear that you find our YouTube videos informative.

As a Rank Math PRO user, you can take advantage of the auto-detect and auto-fetch feature to automatically create video schema for your embedded MP4 videos and YouTube videos. Here are the answers to your questions:

    1. For your short MP4 videos directly embedded into your site, it is recommended to use schema for these videos. Rank Math’s auto-generated video schema can help search engines understand and index your video content better. You don’t need to delete the schema that is automatically created for these videos.

    2. For YouTube videos that aren’t yours, it is best to leave the schema created by Rank Math as it is. The auto-generated schema for these videos can still provide valuable information to search engines and enhance the visibility of your content.

    3. If you want to index only your own 10 YouTube videos in your video sitemap, you can manually exclude the other YouTube videos that were automatically added. To do this, you can navigate to the Video Sitemap settings in Rank Math and exclude the specific YouTube videos that you don’t want to include in your sitemap.

If you need further assistance with these steps, please feel free to ask.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions or need additional support.

    Best regards.

    Hello,

    Thank you for contacting support.

You mentioned that you have the PRO plugin, so in this case you can add both the Article Schema and the Software Schema. As for setting the primary, that won’t make much difference since both will get outputted on the page and Google should pick them both.

However, we would still recommend that for software reviews, the Software Schema is selected as the primary one.

As for forcing the re-index, ideally, this should not be needed as the crawling of your website should happen automatically from Google.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.

    Hello,

Since we did not hear back from you for 15 days, we are assuming that you found the solution. We are closing this support ticket.

If you still need assistance or any other help, please feel free to open a new support ticket, and we will be more than happy to assist.

    Thank you.
