Redirect pages

  • Hello,

I’m sorry to hear about the issue you’re facing with redirecting your blog posts and pages. To differentiate between pages and posts when creating redirects, you can use regular expressions (regex) to specify the source URLs for the redirections.

For example, if you want to redirect blog posts from https://yoursite.com/2023/02/14/post-name to https://yoursite.com/2023/02/14/post-name you can use a regex like this in the Source URLs field:

    /(.*)/post-title/

And in the Destination URL field, you can specify the new URL format:

    /blog/$1/post-title/

This regex will help differentiate between blog posts and other pages with a similar format without making changes to the other pages.

If you need further assistance with setting up these redirects using Rank Math, please feel free to reach out. Thank you for bringing this concern to our attention.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math support, and sorry for the unexpected delays and any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Apologies for the confusion but please ignore the solution suggested by Rankbot.

The best approach for this is to change your permalink structure. You can do so like this:

    Rank Math support

This type of configuration will not affect your regular pages and WordPress will automatically redirect the old post structure to the new one.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need my assistance with anything else.

    Rank Math free

    Thanks that’s super clear.

But does that also cover the internal and external links (will it also redirect to the new path)?

I’m afraid this change will have an impact on SEO ranking. Any thoughts on that?

    Hello,

After changing the permalink structure, WordPress should automatically redirect your URLs. If that doesn’t redirect your URLs, you’ll manually create them on your website.

If your posts properly get redirected from your old permalink structure to the new permalink structure then it shouldn’t affect your ranking. You may see a small decline in ranking immediately after changing the permalink but it will auto recover.

Hope that helps and please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thank you.
