RankMath keeps asking me to reconnect

    Rank Math free

I’ve been using Rankmath (free version) on my website since December 22, and I’ve never had any issues until the last couple days. A notice keeps appearing in my dashboard that says: “It looks like your website’s URL changed recently. Click here to reconnect”. I haven’t changed any URLs, and there is no reason for it to appear again and again even after I reconnect.

There are also so many 404 hits. There are a few 404 errors on my website that I know of but these reported errors are weird. I don’t know what to do about them, or how to remove them. Someone suggested they might be bots. If so, how do I prevent the bots attacks?

This is my website. . You can see that there aren’t any 404 pages like the ones in the image. (I’ve attached an image of the 404 report) 404 errors on rankmath

I would highly appreciate any pointers on how to resolve both these issue. The 404 errors have been there for longer, around 2 months maybe, but they have been increasing recently.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

For the connection issue, please head over to WordPress Dashboard > Settings > General and make sure there are no mismatches between the WordPress URL and Site URL in those options.

After that, please try disconnecting and reconnecting your Rank Math account to see if this resolves your issue.

If the issue still persists, you can try adding the following filter on your website and then try reconnecting to your account again.

    add_filter( 'rank_math/registration/do_url_check', '__return_false' );

Here is a guide you can follow to add the filter:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/wordpress-hooks-actions-filters/

Regarding the 404 monitor, we do not have information on how or why they are generated. You can get further insight into them by enabling the advanced monitor at WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > General Settings > 404 Monitor.
    https://rankmath.com/kb/advanced-404-monitor/

That will give you more information like the referrer and the user-agent. You can use that information to track down the source or find out if it is just bots generating those errors.

You can also fix these errors by redirecting them to a related page on your website:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/fix-404-errors/

Let us know how it goes. Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.
