Hello,
I apologize for the ongoing issue you are facing. Regarding your question about the sitemap generation in Rank Math, the sitemap is typically generated when a new post is published. However, you can also manually generate the sitemap or schedule it to be generated at specific times.
If you have disabled the sitemap module, you will need to re-enable it to generate the sitemap automatically or manually. To do this, you can follow these steps:
- Navigate to WordPress Dashboard → Rank Math SEO.
- Enable the Sitemap module.
- Once the Sitemap module is enabled, you can access the sitemap settings under Rank Math SEO → Sitemap Settings.
If you encounter any issues while configuring the sitemap or need further assistance, please feel free to reply to this ticket, and a human agent from the Rank Math Support team will assist you promptly.
Thank you for raising this concern, and we appreciate your patience as we work to resolve this issue for you.
Best regards.

How to Setup Rank Math SEO Plugin Properly
It would be greate if sitemap generation could be scheduled to once per day. Now sitemap generation stucks our machine and down mysql server.
Hello,
Thank you for contacting support.
The sitemap generation happens each time it’s accessed by any user or bot trying to crawl it. That cannot be changed and that’s the default and intended behavior of the plugin to keep it all updated.
Also, the sitemap is not a physical file but rather a virtual one so it’s not actually on your website directory.
Hope this helps clarify the situation.
Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.
Thanks Miguel,
But sitemap generation is loading my mysql server (same as https://support.rankmath.com/ticket/after-upgrading-to-mysql-8-rank-math-is-loading-the-site/). I’ve tried patched in this topic, but don’t work for me. It’s not possible to fix it?
I think it would be great to add a option to select if sitemap is generated each time it’s accessed by any user or bot trying to crawl it, or not.
Our site has a huge number of posts and sitemap generation it’s not efficient.
Please, help me.
Thanks!
Hello,
We appreciate the feedback and we’ll surely share that with our developers but even if we decide to implement that, it would require a significant amount of time because the entire module would need to be rewritten from scratch.
At the moment there’s no quick workaround for this matter that could be implemented.
Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.
Thanks. We now have the pro subscription. I’m just open a ticket with more info. Maybe you could help me.
Thanks
