Hi, I need some help. I think I have a problem with the connection between rank math and google search console because a red “dot” keeps appearing in the Analytics section, under google search console. If it helps, I can share the error log of rank math.
Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi Jaideep,
thanks for the reply! I tried to do the procedure you described (I gave rank math access to google search console but not to google analytics because in Italy we can’t use it) but unfortunately the problem didn’t solve. The strange thing is that until some time ago it was working with the same permissions I provided now but now nn no more. Can you help me?Hello,
Please verify using the URL prefix and ensure that you have verified the correct version of your website on the Google Search Console (HTTP or HTTPS, www or non-www).
You can follow our guide here to create the URL Prefix property:
https://rankmath.com/kb/google-site-verification/#num-1-1-open-google-search-consoleThe URL-prefix property also helps keep your sitemap in sync with Google Search Console as we submit it automatically for you. In addition, the domain property won’t work correctly on some sections of the Analytics module such as the IndexStatus.
Let us know how this goes.
Hi Reinelle,
thanks for the response. Having already done the property verification on google search console, I would not know how to check. Unfortunately, I don’t remember if I used domain verification or url verification.Hello,
You can check the type of property you used in your Google Search Console. Please refer to these screenshots for your reference:
In your Rank Math analytics GSC settings, it must not contain an “sc-domain:” like for example:
Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
Hi Jeremy,
I confirm that in the “analytics” section of rank math the “sc-domain:” you mentioned appears. I should have verified the property via “domain property” and not url prefix. To your knowledge is it possible to redo the procedure so that the url is chosen as the verification mode?Hello,
You can reconnect the Google account again by following the guide we shared earlier, keeping in mind this time to verify using the URL prefix and also verify the correct version of your website.
Let us know how it goes.
Thank you.
So do I first have to create another version of my site on Google search console, verifying it by url prefix? Should I delete the previously verified property (the domain one) or can I leave it active?
Hello,
You can follow our guide here to create the URL Prefix property:
https://rankmath.com/kb/google-site-verification/#num-1-1-open-google-search-consoleDo not need to delete the domain property, you can just reconnect your site to Google services from Rank Math SEO → General Settings → Analytics, and select the URL prefix property.
If the two properties being on your Search Console will cause you confusion you can go ahead and delete the domain property.
Hope that helps, and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
Hi Ike,
I added the new property but google did an automatic verification of it (I couldn’t do it through the html tag). Rank math however still didn’t work so I looked up the html tag in google search console settings, even though it was already verified, and pasted the code into the appropriate section of the rank math plugin. Now it seems to be working, I hope I didn’t mess up any settings by doing this procedure!I saw that rank math has already sent the sitemap to google related to the new property. Doesn’t doing so create “duplicate” indexed pages? Keeping in mind that those from the previous property had already been indexed? I don’t want to receive penalties from google.
Thanks again for the help.
Hello,
Please note that Google only shows you duplicate content errors when you have the same content but different URLs. Submitting the sitemap multiple times doesn’t cause duplicate issues.
However, if you see a duplicate sitemap on your Google Search Console, you can safely remove one and it will not cause any issue.
Hope that helps and please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions.
