Plugin calls Google Tag Manager (without prior user consent)

Hi, I have a major problem with the most recent version of your awesome plugin.

I have not activated the analytics module (currently), but the browser tab: “inspect → sources” shows, that your plugin is calling the following URL: “https://www.googletagmanager.com/gtag/js?id=G-QWE51330BT”. This happens regardless of a user being logged in, or not. When deactivating the RankMath plugin, this no longer happens.

This is a huge issue for my website in Germany, as I need the user’s consent prior to communicating with Google’s services.

    My website URL is: https://enviotech.de

    Kind regards
    Adrian Rhaese

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

If you’re not using the Analytics module then Rank Math should not include the analytics code on your website. In this case, please try to clear your website cache including any server-level cache, and check again.

If the issue still persists, then we might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.

Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.
    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

    Hello,

Thank you so much for sharing your admin login for us to troubleshoot the issue.

It appears that the plugin “Complianz | GDPR/CCPA Cookie Consent” is adding the unwanted tracking code. The code will be removed once you have disabled their plugin. Please refer to the video screencast we have shared in the sensitive data section.

You would need to disable the generation of their code via their settings and if you are having trouble doing so, you can contact the plugin’s support to assist you further.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need my assistance with anything else.
