Pages not being indexed on google

I am having issues with the pages on my sites being indexed.

I keep getting the “discovered- currently not indexed” and “crawled- currently not indexed” in google search console for a lot of my pages.

I checked the source of the pages on my site and I saw the following snippet of code:

    <li id=’wp-admin-bar-rank-math-no-index’ class=”mark-page-as”>‘#noindex‘>As NoIndex<li id=’wp-admin-bar-rank-math-no-follow’ class=”mark-page-as”>

    What does this mean?

From the rank math settings, it looks like I haver everything set to be able to index my site.

Any help here would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    – Daniel

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

It is a pretty common mistake to open the page source and search for a noindex tag to see if the page is marked as noindex or not.

Rank Math offers a No Index and No Follow option in the admin menu bar, which could show up in the page’s source code when logged in.

Please note that the actual noindex and nofollow tags will be added like this:

    <meta robots="nofollow, noindex">

Regarding the “Crawled – currently not indexed” and “Discovered – currently not indexed” messages, it means that Google has found the URLs but has not yet decided whether to index them. You can follow the URLs below that explain these in detail:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/crawled-currently-not-indexed/
    https://rankmath.com/kb/discovered-currently-not-indexed/

Hope that helps and please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thank you.

    Thank you for your Rakibuzzaman.

So to be clear, are the pages being indexed when they have this code on the page source?

I don’t have to go into each individual page and make the changes in the admin menu bar manually?

    Hello,

If you find the following code on your page source then you don’t have to worry:

    <li id='wp-admin-bar-rank-math-no-index' class="mark-page-as"><a class='ab-item' href='#noindex'>As NoIndex</a></li><li id='wp-admin-bar-rank-math-no-follow' class="mark-page-as"><a class='ab-item' href='#nofollow'>As NoFollow</a></li>

It will only appear to the logged-in administrators and any search engine bot will not be able to see this. However, if your pages are already set to index then you don’t have to change this manually from the admin bar. Your indexed pages will have index and follow attributes in the robots meta tag.

Hope that helps and please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thank you.
