Page is not indexed: Duplicate, Google chose different canonical than user

    Hello,

I’ve just noticed on google search console that my homepage is not being indexed because ”
Page is not indexed: Duplicate, Google chose different canonical than user” most likely due to the website being registered before. I’ve put what they are saying below.

    Indexing
    User-declared canonical: https://carpinon.co.uk/
    Google-selected canonical: http://www.carpinon.co.uk/

It looks as though google is ignoring my user-declared canonical. I’ve tried setting a 301 redirect from http://www.carpinon.co.uk/ to https://carpinon.co.uk/ but rank math isn’t allowing it and is saying “Please add at least one valid source URL”

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Rank Math doesn’t handle domain/server-level redirection. The best way to redirect your site from www to non-www is by adding rules in your .htaccess.

Here’s a guide you can follow to achieve this redirection:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/how-to-redirect-www-urls-to-non-www/

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

    Thank you.
