Open graph image

I have a default open graph image setup in settings that shows correctly in the HTML code, and when sharing URLs to social media platforms. When I set a custom open graph image for a page in the page SEO settings, this doesn’t change the default image that still appears in the HTML code and when being shared. It’s as if it has no affect over the default settings, which take precedence over the custom page setting.

  • Hello, I’m sorry to hear that you’re experiencing issues with the Open Graph images. It seems like the default settings are taking precedence over the custom page settings for the Open Graph image.

To set a custom Open Graph/Social Preview image for a specific page, you can follow these steps:

    1. In the WordPress Block Editor sidebar, open Rank Math and upload a custom image through the Social tab.
      Set OpenGraph image through sidebar

    2. You can also set a featured image by heading to the individual post/page settings and uploading a featured image.
      Featured Image

    3. If you’ve already set a custom Open Graph image for a specific page and it’s not reflecting when shared, please ensure that the dimensions of the image are 1200px X 630px and that it is in one of the supported formats: jpeg, png, or gif.

If you’ve followed these steps and are still facing issues, please let us know, and we’ll be happy to assist further.

I’ve take these steps, but still having the same issue. The code shows the default and not the custom image. None of the custom open graph fields in the page settings are taking effect on the published page.

I’ve taken these steps, but still having the same issue. The HTML code shows the default open graph settings and not the custom settings set on the page. None of the custom open graph fields in the page settings are taking effect on the published page. Consistent across all social media platforms as the HTML code isn’t showing the custom page OG settings.

    Hello,

    Thank you for your patience.

Upon checking the image you have set is too big (1728 x 943).

Please ensure that the image you’re using is as close as 1200 x 630 pixels, and the image file format you are using is only between jpeg, gif, or png as per Opengraph Standards:

If you don’t want to change the image size of the image, then you can upload the resized version under the Social tab (custom Opengraph image).

    Hope that helps.
