Hi Michael,
I can see that the texts and images are posted to facebook – I went and did that manually when I realised that RankMath had stopped doing them.
This morning a post went live at 11 am. The corresponding text did not go to Facebook. I posted it to Facebook myself at 1.30 pm (approx.)
As of this morning, the problem still was not fixed.
I have tried deleting and reinstalling RankMath and while that helped my Google problem, it has not helped with Facebook.
Is there any other reason why it would not be working?

I am not quite sure why your are having an issue on your end. I created a test post and tested the URL on fb and the image and text are showing just fine.
Please check the test post screencast I have attached in the sensitive section and let us know what we are missing.

That is exactly what I do for each post. However, as the debugger showed, “This post hasn’t been shared to Facebook”
It is all set up but does not actually “post” to Facebook. That is my problem. Yes, it shows that an image has been selected for social media. It just does not turn up on social media unless I open facebook, type in a text and type the address, then it uses the image I set for the post as the selected image. Previously, I would set it all up in Rank Math and when I clicked on ‘Publish’ the set text and image would automatically share to Facebook.
It is the sharing that I have a problem with now.

I am not sure why your are facing this on your end. I have created and published another post, this time I have posted to Facebook, and as you can see in this screencast: https://i.rankmath.com/VGi9CM, all data is posting perfectly.
Could you please test posting from a different browser or device and check if the issue still persists.

So,
To explain the images: I created a fake post, set the facebook image and text and scheduled it to post 5 minutes later.
The ‘post is scheduled’ page appears, with facebook and twitter buttons towards the bottom. When I click on the Facebook button, there is an error, ‘no longer available’, I assume because the post is not live immediately.
5 minutes later and the post appears on my blog.
8 minutes later and the corresponding text and image are still not on facebook.
At the moment, my only option is to manually write a post on facebook about the new post. When I then type in the url, the image does appear. However, the automatic notification is not working at the moment. And pressing the facebook button after scheduling the post provides and error that the page no longer exist, so I can’t post to Facebook this way either.

If I understand correctly, you mean to say that your posts are not being Automatically posted to facebook. You don’t seem to have an auto-posting plugin installed. Rank math does not post your posts to facebook automatically.
By adding the social image, Rank math adds the required open graph meta og:meta to your page which is required for social sharing.
If your image and description appears correctly when you test with facebook debugger: https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/ , then it means Rank math has set your data correctly else please use hhtps://www.loom.com to share a screencast to help us understand your issue.
