  • Hello,

    Thank you for contacting Rank Math support. I’m sorry to hear that you are having trouble with your sitemap.

    We check your website on Google and we can see that Google is actually indexing your homepage, see this screenshot:

    However, we can see that your sitemap is showing a 404 error which could cause site indexing issues.

    To troubleshoot this issue, please follow these steps:

    • Reset your WordPress permalinks by going to WordPress Dashboard > Settings > Permalinks and clicking Save Changes without making any changes.
    • Regenerate your sitemap by going to Rank Math > Sitemap Settings and changing the Link per Sitemap to 201 or anything else and then click Save Changes. You can change it later, this is just to regenerate your sitemap. You can follow this screencast: https://i.rankmath.com/pipRDp
    • Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this article:
      https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/
    • Also, add this code to your site to disable the Rank Math transient cache:
      /**
       * Filter if XML sitemap transient cache is enabled.
       *
       * @param boolean $unsigned Enable cache or not, defaults to true
       */
      add_filter( 'rank_math/sitemap/enable_caching', '__return_false');

      You can learn how to add this code to your website here: https://rankmath.com/kb/wordpress-hooks-actions-filters/

    Learn more about this error and more ways to rectify it here: https://rankmath.com/kb/sitemap-404-error/

    If none of these steps resolve the issue, please let us know and provide us with your WordPress login details and FTP access in the Sensitive Data section so we can take a closer look.

    We hope this helps. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

    Thanks so much for your help. I did all my best and fullfilled all point from you, except the last one with the code, I am sorry my knowledge is not enough for that. however, I did the other points and the sitemap https://play-bet-and.win/index.php/sitemap_index.xml was never showing error 404 . However if I paste the sitemap in google search console google always says : “could not be read”
    hope you can help me (is my first blog) , I provide you with my CPanel/Wordpress Login and Password. Thanks so much in advance

    Hello,

    Thank you for your patience.

    We wanted to check your site, but it seems that you’re currently using the AIOSEO plugin at the moment, as well as your sitemaps.

    Let us know if the issue persists when using Rank Math so we can investigate the issue further.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Hi Reinelle Thanks so much for your answer. I remove AIOSEO plugin, so that you are able to check my website. I tried again, but the sidemap is still not readable via google search energine. Maybe I had to much plugins on my wordpress to try to resolve that problem, for future I will just count on RankMath ! 😉 Thanks again for your time.

    Hello,

    We’ve checked your sitemap and we can see it is now working properly without any issues.

    In this case please clear your sitemap cache including your website cache and resubmit the /sitemap_index.xml in the Search Console to see if that works for you.

    Let us know how it goes. Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.
