Hello,
Thank you for your query. We will be super-happy to help you with your concern.
To solve that issue please try this suggestion here: https://rankmath.com/kb/fix-sitemap-issues/#404-error
If that doesn’t work; we might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on your ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.
Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/
You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):
https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-security-audit-log/We hope that helps and we are here should you have any follow-up questions.
Had shared the relevant log in
Hello,
Thank you for getting back to us.
It does not look like you have shared the relevant login yet. Please make sure to update the sensitive data section with the temporal login link OR username and password of your website (also please specify the website URL).
Also please make sure that you have really followed these steps:
- Reset your WordPress permalinks by going to WordPress Dashboard > Settings > Permalinks and clicking Save Changes without making any changes.
- Regenerate your sitemap by going to Rank Math > Sitemap Settings and changing the Link per Sitemap to 201 or anything else and then click Save Changes. You can change it later, this is just to regenerate your sitemap. You can follow this screencast: https://i.rankmath.com/pipRDp
- Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this article:
https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/
We hope this helps. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
Hello,
I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?
Thank you.
Shared the requisite data
Hi
Any update ?Hello,
We have already excluded your sitemaps from being cached in your Litespeed cache. However, your sitemap index is still returning a 404 error.
In this case, please apply this filter on your site:
/** * Filter if XML sitemap transient cache is enabled. * * @param boolean $unsigned Enable cache or not, defaults to true */ add_filter( 'rank_math/sitemap/enable_caching', '__return_false');
If the issue still persists, you may get in touch with your web host to exclude your sitemaps in their caching services.
Let us know how this goes.
Thank you.
I have tried but problem still persist
Hello,
I can’t seem to locate your website as it’s giving me an error.
I’ve also tried VPN to other locations but I can’t seem to access the site. I’ve checked the website if it’s down and it’s returning an error.
Please refer to the Sensitive Data Section for the images.
Is the website down at the moment? It looks like one of my colleagues was able to log in to your site.
We really look forward to hearing back from you. Thank you.
