i decided to look for the sitemap and i notice that i have a problem when i look for the sitemap.xml i have this message:
This page contains the following errors:
error on line 1 at column 7: XML declaration allowed only at the start of the document
Below is a rendering of the page up to the first error.
I was using Yoast, and decided to change to rank math because i though was a bug from the plugin, but it looks that is not.
The only chance i made recently was to the nitropack, i was using the free version and the payed version on other website but since im planning to invest more on this website i ask them to change the subscription to kenyasoulsafaris.com but i don’t know if is the plugin that is causing this problem.
I have already spend lot’s of months working on content on the website and i need the sitemap to be functional, can you please help?
Thank you for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.
This sitemap error indicates that there must be some white space before the XML Sitemap’s source code. You can also look at the source code of Sitemap and see there is an extra space before the XML. This is caused by a blank line or space in your wp-config.php or functions.php file.
From the NitroPak staff they say i don’t have a sitemap. How this is possible? How does this happen, if i had it before? Can you help me to create a sitemap?
Please note that Rank Math generates your sitemap on the fly so if they are looking for any physical file, they will not be able to find it in your file directory. You can locate your sitemap on /sitemap_index.xml.
Regarding your current sitemap issue, if there is no space in your wp-config.php or functions.php file, then assuming you are using the latest version of all the plugins and the themes (please update if not yet), it would seem like a conflict with one of the plugins or the theme you are using.
Only the site admin would know and your users won’t be affected by this troubleshooting.
If the issue persists, please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.
