Please note that the link counter only counts links that appear in the default post content area and does not count links that are dynamically added or generated by custom codes or plugins. Rank Math counts each link separately even if the URL has already been linked to/from the same post/page.
If you think the number of links displayed is not correct, then you can try resetting them from Rank Math > Status & Tools > Database Tools. In the database tools, click on Delete Internal Links and this can fix the issue. Note that you will have to enable the Advanced Mode to see the Database tools.
If this does not solve your problem, please share the affected URLs with us so that we can investigate the issue further for you. You can also provide us with some screenshots or a video recording of your issue to help us understand it better.

This is the linI am referring to. This is an incoming link that RankMath fails to recognize or count. This is not normal at all.

Just to confirm, were the links reset by going to Rank Math > Status & Tools > Database Tools > Delete Internal Links? If this is done already, kindly go to the affected page and save it again without changing anything. See if the link count is updated.
If the issue persists, assuming you are using the latest version of all the plugins and the themes (please update if not yet), it would seem like a conflict with one of the plugins or the theme you are using.
