    Hello,

I am experiencing the uncorrespongind meta descritption on each post I publish.
I always specify the meta description that never correspond to the real meta visible on serp.
I’ve already tried to solve all problems coming from settings, but everything seems to be correct.
Can you please help me to solve this issue?

    Thanks
    Rita

  • Hello,

Thanks for contacting us, and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Do you mean the meta description you’re setting in your site is not being reflected on SERPs?

If so, please note that, Google sometimes ignores the custom meta info altogether and shows something from the page’s content that matches the search intent better. In this case, the best you can do is optimize your meta description to try and match the intent of the search/keyword.

Here’s a link for more information:

Hope that helps, and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

    Thank you.

    Hi,

Yes the issue is that my meta is not reflected on serp.

I know Google sometimes ignore the custom meta, but not every time. In my case the meta is ignored for every post, so I assumed this is not possible. I believe that is due to something not working properly on Rank Math. Can you please have a look into it?

    Let me know, thanks.

    Hello,

Your pages have the meta description that you have set for them in the SEO Metabox and the same is being outputted in the source code, so technically speaking, everything is correct with those and the settings for them.

Having said that, it’s pretty normal these days for Google to modify the meta description of the pages to be more closely matched with the user’s intent and that’s likely what the algorithm is doing here for your website.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.

    Hi,

Thank you for your replay. However it’s seems strange to me that every meta description I’ve set in my blog has been override by Google. I’m just wondering if none was fine for Google or there is a sort of glitch in Rank Math?

Can you go further and check if I have any problem related to the meta data?
    Thanks
    Rita

    Hello,

Thank you for getting back to us.

It seems like your website is offline. However, we already mentioned, this is a common issue that many Google users face. Google often changes the meta titles and descriptions of the web pages in its search results, regardless of what you have set in your meta tags. Google usually does this when it thinks another description on your page bests fits the search intent.

For example, when using the site: operator, Google usually shows the correct meta description for your website, this shows that it can read the correct description but is choosing to use a different one instead.

This affects about 70% of the results and we have a detailed article that explains why this happens and how you can fix it: https://rankmath.com/kb/different-meta-title-and-description/

We also have another article that covers the Google update that introduced this change and how it affects your SEO strategy: https://rankmath.com/google-update/google-title-rewrite-update/

We hope this helps you understand the situation better and resolve the issue. Please feel free to contact us again if you need any further assistance or have any questions. We are always happy to help.

Thank you for choosing Rank Math!
