Menu page permalink changes About and Find Us pages permalinks

    Hi there!

    I’m looking for some help for my clients website as an issue occurs with permalinks about once a week.

    The website has 5 pages with a link structure like this:

    Home

    About – this-is-the-about-page

    Menu – this-is-the-menu-page

    Find Us – this-is-the-find-us-page

    Careers – this-is-the-careers-page

    Each pages permalink had been updated in line with Rank Math SEO guidance and all was fine.

    However I checked my clients website today and come across 404’s from internal links.

    The About page and Find Us page now have the link for the Menu page but with -2 and -3.

    For example:

    About – this-is-the-menu-page-2

    Menu – this-is-the-menu-page

    Find Us – this-is-the-menu-page-3

    I haven’t changed these links to be like this. I understand where duplicate info can cause this but I can’t understand how the Menu link can override the About page and Find Us page links.

    Other things to note, as there is no blog, there’s just Pages and Media Library items. The environment is up to date, I use the Elementor Website Builder and I find this issue occurs when the Rank Math plugin updates.

    I’m going to check through my Media Library to ensure there’s no duplication going on there too but some advice on this would be great!

    Hello,

    Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

    This case usually happens when the Redirect Attachments option is enabled on your site. You can also test it by disabling that option, and the slug will work without the -2.

    In this case, you can re-upload the media with a different file name (/page-name) or at least rename the attachment URL to a different slug to avoid getting the -2 or -3 in the URL.
