Hi so we have implemented a software that generates pages changes seo content etc and are using your instant indexing plugin (which is perfect) to index the pages. It worked for 2 of our websites with a couple hundred pages but no matter how many times we try and go through your guide it still continues to show the ERROR 429 too many requessts? Please can you help us on this matter

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math, and sorry for any inconvenience caused.

The error 429 means that the IP address exceeded the daily quota of requests and you should slow down a little bit and retry later.

Sending too many requests usually causes this error. Since you mentioned that you are working with hundreds of posts/pages, you were trying to update them too frequently or a bulk amount of pages/posts were being submitted for instant indexing. As any frequent action similar to this can cause you the error.

To lessen the requests, please head over to your Instant Indexing settings and ensure you have unchecked all the post types under the “Submit Posts to Google” option and proceed with manually submitting the posts instead.

Or, you can request more quota to serve the requests that your site is making by following the steps on the link below:
    https://developers.google.com/search/apis/indexing-api/v3/quota-pricing

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need my assistance with anything else.

Hi we are still getting the same issue when waiting and even when we create a new website with generated content, brand new API account we are still getting the same error?

Could this be a server issue? What steps do you think we can take to solve this? We’ve done everything above.

The quotas are still showing as untouched?

    Hello,

Yes, it is possible that other websites on your server are likely submitting lots of URLs to IndexNow API and using up the quota assigned to your shared IP address.

This is common with websites on a shared hosting server, so you can get in touch with your hosting provider for clarifying this issue.

Here’s a link for more information:

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you.

    Hi Daniel,

Thanks for the reply. From taking a look we are not blocking your IP connection or the API, can you check that the provider is not blocking our IP connection to 20i -> https://docs.20i.com/support/web-hosting/ip-address-external-connections

That is what our server have just said but we are still getting the same error

    Hello,

This is not about blocking an IP address. As my colleagues already mentioned above that the error 429 may be caused by other domains that share the same IP address reaching your daily quota. If there are other websites with the same IP address, there is nothing much we can do to prevent the error 429.

For some initial troubleshooting, you can change the API key and clear your website cache. Then wait for a few hours and try submitting another URL again.

If the issue still persists, we can suggest you install the following plugin from Bing on your website and try submitting some URLs to understand if the issue is only from the IndexNow API implementation: https://wordpress.org/plugins/indexnow/

Let us know how it goes. Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.
