I’m writing to report an issue I’m experiencing with fetching the sitemap on my website. When attempting to access the sitemap at [https://bollywoodbazzar.buzz/], I receive the error message “Could not fetch sitemap.” I’ve been troubleshooting this issue for the past few days without success.

Here are some details about the problem:

    Sitemap URL: [https://bollywoodbazzar.buzz/]
Error Message: “Could not fetch sitemap”
    Steps Taken:
Checked sitemap existence by accessing the URL directly.
Verified server configuration and ensured no rules are blocking access to XML files.
Confirmed the correct Content-Type header (application/xml) is being sent by the server.
Temporarily deactivated all plugins except for Rank Math to rule out conflicts.
    Cleared cache and CDN.
Regenerated sitemap from Rank Math plugin settings.
Despite these efforts, I’m still unable to fetch the sitemap successfully. I would appreciate any assistance you can provide in resolving this issue.

Please let me know if you need any further information from my end. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

    Best regards,
    surya

  • Hello,

I apologize for the issue you are facing with fetching the sitemap on your website. Thank you for providing detailed information about the problem you are encountering.

Based on the details you shared, it seems like you have already taken several troubleshooting steps to resolve the “Could not fetch sitemap” error. Since you are still facing the issue after these efforts, I recommend following these additional steps to ensure the sitemap is set up correctly:

    1. Validate Your Sitemap:

    2. Ensure the Sitemap is Located in the Root Folder:

      • Make sure that your sitemap is installed in the root folder of your WordPress installation. The correct format should be like this: https://yourdomainname.com/sitemap_index.xml.
    3. Ensure Your Posts Are Set to Index:

      • Check if all your posts are set to index. You can do this by navigating to Rank Math SEO → Titles & Meta and enabling the Index checkbox in the Robots Meta settings.

If the issue persists after following these steps, please let us know, and we will further assist you in resolving the problem.

    Best regards,

    Hello,

Thank you for your query and we are so sorry about the trouble this must have caused.

If the KB guide from our Rankbot doesn’t work, please follow the steps below:

    1. Flush the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast:
    https://i.rankmath.com/pipRDp

    2. Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this article:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/

    3. Apply the following filter code to your site.

    add_filter( 'rank_math/sitemap/enable_caching', '__return_false');

Here’s how you can add filter to your WordPress site: https://rankmath.com/kb/wordpress-hooks-actions-filters/

    4. If the issue persists, access your website’s root directory via FTP or CPanel’s File Manager and delete any sitemap XML files you see there.

    5. Lastly, remove all the sitemaps from your GSC and re-submit only the primary one (sitemap_index.xml).

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
