Is text inside a toggled list penalized by Google indexing?

I have an image that shows multiple plant species. Currently, the entire list of plants is listed below the print. If I change that to a toggle (e.g. See species in this print), will Google search still index the “hidden” species list?

    Thank you.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting the support and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

In general no. This is quite common, lots of sites do this. Particular on mobile, where screen space is limited. Googlebot is smart and it scans the complete HTML code of the website. So, it’s perfectly normal to have tabbed / accordion / toggled content hidden for better user experience.

Here’s a wonderful article on toggled or tabbed content.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

    Thank you
