So I removed the plugin and I wanna check how can I revert this action and what is the risk on my website in this case?

Mainly my website is about coupons and discounts.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention.

Please note that we don’t recommend using Google’s Instant Indexing API on websites that make you money as you are in danger of getting a penalty in the future.

You can safely uninstall the API on your site if you’re not going to use it.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Hi,

By removing API you mean removing the plugin. I removed the plugin so does that mean that indexing my website to google has been revoked. Also please explain what kind of penalty the website can have?

    Hello,

Removing the plugin doesn’t mean your site has been deindexed. According to Google, the instant indexing API should only be used for JobPosting or BroadcastEvent embedded in VideoObject websites.

At the moment we have not noticed any penalty for using it on other types of websites and we have seen good results from our tests.

However, we understand that there is a possibility of a penalty in the future especially for sites with Google Adsense. For this reason, we do not recommend using it on money websites.

Hope that helps, and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

    Hi,

I do understand this but I’m asking how can I revoke the indexing. Can someone please help with this? As I’m willing to enable google adsense soon and my website is an affiliate marketing website and I’m a little worried that my website is at risk? So could you let me know how can I remove this?

    Hello,

To address your question, removing the Instant Indexing plugin from your website will not revoke the indexing that has already been done by Google. However, since you are worried about potential risks and penalties, here’s what you can do:

    1. Remove the Instant Indexing API Key: Ensure that any API keys related to the Instant Indexing plugin are removed from your Google Cloud Console. This will prevent any further indexing requests from being sent.

    2. Request Deindexing of Specific URLs: If there are specific URLs that were indexed using the Instant Indexing API and you want them to be deindexed, you can use the Google Search Console’s URL Removal Tool to request temporary deindexing. This is a more manual approach but can be useful if you have specific URLs in mind.

    3. Regular Indexing Methods: Continue using regular SEO practices and submit your sitemap to Google Search Console to ensure your site gets indexed properly. Google will continue to index your site through its regular crawling process.

Regarding the risk of penalties, Google has indicated that the Instant Indexing API is intended for specific use cases (like JobPosting or BroadcastEvent embedded in VideoObject websites). While there have been no widespread reports of penalties for using the API on other types of websites, it is best to follow Google’s guidelines, especially if you plan to enable Google AdSense.

    We hope this helps.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

I checked “Google Cloud Console” and wasn’t able to find any API keys related to Google instant indexing.
Does it mean that indexing to google wasn’t submitted or successful through Rankmath’s plugin?

    Hello,

After installing the plugin, you have to create an API key in your Google Cloud Console. If the API isn’t there, it means you didn’t create it. Also, there is no need to remove the API or do anything else other than removing the Instant Indexing plugin from the site. Your site isn’t at any risk due to the indexing API if you don’t have the plugin installed on the site.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
