Hello, my site has a no-index tag applied. I was just about to publish my first post when I noticed that the index box in the advanced tab was ticked. I do not want the post to be indexed, should I change it or leave it and the no-index tag that my site has won’t let the post be indexed?

    Thank you.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math. We are sorry for any inconvenience this must have caused you.

If your site has a no-index tag applied, it means that search engines are instructed not to index your website. In this case, even if the “index” box in the advanced tab of your post is ticked, the post will not be indexed by search engines due to the site-wide no-index tag.

However, keeping the “index” box unticked for individual posts is recommended if you don’t want them to be indexed. This ensures that search engines follow your specific instructions for each post, even if the site-wide settings change in the future.

We hope this is helpful to you. Let us know if you have any more questions.

    Thank you.
