Hello,
I’m sorry to hear that you are facing issues with your sitemap. Thank you for providing detailed information about the steps you have already taken to resolve the 404 error.
Since you have already tried flushing the sitemap cache, adding rewrite rules to the Nginx server, excluding the sitemap files in the caching plugin, and adding filters to enable/disable sitemap caching, but the issue persists, I recommend checking your permalink settings in WordPress.
To fix the sitemap 404 error, please follow these steps:
- Navigate to Settings → Permalinks in your WordPress admin area.
- Without making any changes, click on the Save Changes button to flush the permalinks setting.
By following these steps, you will refresh the permalinks and potentially resolve the sitemap 404 error. If the issue persists after following these steps, please let us know so we can further assist you.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
Hello,
Thank you for your query and we are so sorry about the trouble this must have caused.
Since you already have performed the initial troubleshooting and the issue persists, we might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.
Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.
It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/
You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

We really look forward to helping you.
Hello,
I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?
Thank you.
Hello,
Thank you for your patience.
Could you please share the screenshot of your Nginx config file so we can check as well the rewrite rules in your server?
You can upload screenshots using this tool and add the link here.
Meanwhile, please also clear your server’s cache after applying the rules.
Looking forward to helping you.
Hello,
We have done initial troubleshooting from our end and we couldn’t see any issues that may affect the sitemap’s generation.
We also made sure that the sitemap isn’t file cached by our plugin.
We would like to debug this further by following this troubleshooting guide.
However, it won’t let us install the plugin.
Are you able to create a staging website on your end? If you can, please create one, reproduce the error there, and share the login access here, this will allow us to deeply investigate the issue.
Also, get in touch with your web host and ask them to set at least the following values:
PHP Memory Limit: 1024M Max input time: 600 PHP time limit: 240 PHP max input variables: 1000
See if that helps with the generation of the sitemap.
Looking forward to helping you.
I can help you to install the plugin “Health Check Plugin”
and the setting already changed
can you check it again?Hello,
We have troubleshot this and we’re still not sure why the Nginx rewrite rules are not working on your end. It’s working on other websites tested.
Please reach out to your web hosting company and let them know that a Nginx rule you added to your website is not working as intended. They might have additional advice peculiar to your server environment. Also, please make sure that they have increased the following values we share here.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation. We are looking forward to hearing back from you.
