  • Hello,

I apologize for the issue you’re facing with your sitemap not being fetched. This can be a common issue, but there are a few steps you can take to resolve it.

Firstly, I recommend validating your sitemap to ensure it is correctly configured. You can use the “Validate XML Sitemap” tool provided by Rank Math. Simply enter your sitemap URL into the tool and click “VALIDATE SITEMAP”. If your sitemap is correctly configured, the tool will return a success message with no issues detected.

If your sitemap is manually created, please make sure it is installed in the root folder of your WordPress installation. The sitemap URL should have only one forward slash between your domain name and the sitemap path.

Additionally, check if all your posts are set to index. If they are set to noindex, your sitemap will become empty. To set your posts to index, go to “Rank Math SEO → Titles & Meta” and enable the “Index” checkbox in the Robots Meta settings. Don’t forget to save the changes.

If the issue persists, please check if your sitemap is accessible using the provided tool. Enter your sitemap URL and check the status to identify any issues preventing your sitemap from being accessed by the Googlebot.

If your sitemap is being cached, you need to exclude it from caching. You can follow our tutorial on how to exclude sitemaps from caching for detailed instructions.

Lastly, make sure you have submitted the correct sitemap to Google Search Console. You should submit the sitemap_index.xml file and ensure that all the inner sitemaps, like post-sitemap.xml, are showing up in your Google Search Console when clicking on the sitemap_index.xml file.

I hope these steps help resolve the issue with your sitemap not being fetched. If you have any further questions or need assistance, please feel free to reply to this ticket. Our support team is here to help you.
