HTTP 404 code

    Hello Team

I’m contacting you because after an audit of my site, I’ve noticed that for a URL that can’t be found, the server should return an HTTP 404 code. And the problem is that this is not the case on my website: it seems to be 301 instead…

    Here’s an example (Sensitive Data)

I have no idea whether this is set via RankMath, and if not, do you have any idea how to do it?

    Many thanks!

  • Hello,

I apologize for the issue you are facing with the HTTP status code on your website. It seems that the server is returning a 301 status code instead of the expected 404 for URLs that can’t be found.

To address this issue, you can follow these steps:

    1. Check Your Web Server Settings:
      • Ensure that your server is configured to return a 404 error for missing pages. If it’s not configured correctly, it may be returning a 301 status code instead of a 404.
      • You can contact your web hosting provider to fix this issue and ask them to check your server settings.

If the issue persists or if you need further assistance, please let us know by replying to this ticket. Our team will be happy to assist you further.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention!
