    Hello,
    I contacted my host, who is a Wealthy Affiliate. Under the SEO settings in the dashboard…, in the tab “Edit .htaccess,” the message is .htaccess file not found. They are telling me all is well and I should contact you. Here is the link to the screenshot: https://imgur.com/a/PHb1Nch

    Hello,

    Thank you for your patience.

    In this case, please include the DISALLOW_FILE_EDIT constant in your wp-config.php file and set it to true. If this constant is already added, ensure that it is set to true, as shown below:

    define ('DISALLOW_FILE_EDIT', true);

    Once done, clear your website’s cache and check again the General Settings.

    Let us know how this goes.

    Hi Merideth,

    We have added the above provided code line “define (‘DISALLOW_FILE_EDIT’, true);” in your wp-config.php file. Also, flushed the website cache.

    Hello,

    Since the issue persists, then we need to take a closer look at the settings of your website to resolve this issue. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.

    Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.
    Sensitive Data Section

    It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/

    You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

    We really look forward to helping you.
