Hello,
I’m sorry to hear about the issue you’re facing with your website sitemap not updating for the past 2 months. It’s great that you have already tried removing and resubmitting the sitemap.
To address the problem of the post number not changing in the sitemap despite being indexed and showing the latest crawled date, here are a few steps you can take:
-
Check the Last Crawl Date in Google Search Console:
- Verify the last crawl date on the sitemap in the Google Search Console. Make sure that the last crawl date is after you published the post. If not, Google might not have seen the updated sitemap yet. You may need to wait for Google to crawl the sitemap.
- If you don’t want to wait, you can delete the sitemap from the Google Search Console and then re-add it by following these steps:
- Click on the three dots in the top-right corner of the Google Search Console.
- Choose the Remove sitemap option.
- Re-add the sitemap by entering the sitemap URL and clicking SUBMIT.
-
Check if Your Sitemap is Accessible:
- Use a tool like httpstatus.io to check if your sitemap is accessible. Enter your sitemap URL and verify its status to identify any issues preventing it from being accessed by Googlebot.
-
Ensure Your Posts Are Set to Index:
- Make sure that your posts are set to index in Rank Math SEO settings. Head over to Rank Math SEO → Titles & Meta and enable the Index checkbox in the Robots Meta settings.
By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and resolve the issue with your website sitemap not updating correctly. If you still encounter any difficulties or have further questions, please feel free to reach out to our support team, who are available 24×7 to assist you promptly.

Hello,
Thank you for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.
Please note that the ‘Discovered Pages’ on Google Search Console tab only shows the number of pages that were discovered using the sitemap, and since the sitemap is not the only tool Google uses to discover pages, the number of ‘Discovered Pages’ might differ from your number of pages on your sitemap.
In fact, it could be a good sign, as it means that you have good internal linking that Google does not need a sitemap to find some of your pages.
Since your pages are getting indexed, you don’t have to worry about this.
Hope that helps and please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions.
Thank you.
