I changed my URL from .co.uk to .com on Rank Math. My Rank Math account is now showing my .com URL which is what I want. Do I need my old .co.uk URL on Rank Math also. I am a beginner and nothing is being indexed yet as I am not ready. Does my old .co.uk needs to be reinstalled on Rank Math with sitemap or do i need to do a redirect ???
Your step by step help will be much appreciated.

    Kind regards,
    John Stevens

  • Hello,

I’m sorry to hear about the issue you’re facing with your URL change. It’s great that you’re being proactive about ensuring everything is set up correctly.

When you change your domain from .co.uk to .com, you should ensure that your new .com URL is properly set up in Rank Math. You don’t need to keep the old .co.uk URL in Rank Math unless you plan to redirect it to the new .com URL.

To ensure that everything is set up correctly, here are the steps you can follow:

    1. Update Rank Math Settings: Make sure that your new .com URL is properly set up in Rank Math. You can do this by navigating to your WordPress Dashboard and then to Rank Math > General Settings. Here, you can update the website URL to your new .com domain.

    2. Redirect from .co.uk to .com: If you want to redirect traffic from your old .co.uk domain to the new .com domain, you will need to set up a redirect. You can do this using a plugin or by adding redirect rules to your server configuration. If you’re using Apache, you can add redirect rules to your .htaccess file. If you’re using Nginx, you can add redirect rules to your server block configuration.

    3. Sitemap Update: Once you have updated your domain in Rank Math and set up the necessary redirects, it’s a good idea to update your sitemap to reflect the changes. You can do this by ensuring that your new .com URL is included in the sitemap and that the old .co.uk URL is removed.

If you have any further questions or need assistance with any of these steps, please feel free to reach out. We’re here to help!
