    Hello,

I have WPML installed on the website and the blog articles are only in one language. Still all posts with /en/ have been duplicated and Search Console is indexing all URLs and detecting it as duplicate content.

I have made a 301 redirect of all these posts that should not exist.

Please, I need help to solve this.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

I’ve checked your site, and indeed the blog is only accessible on the main language of the page.

In this case, to figure out how Google is discovering those URLs, you should use the URL inspection tool of your GSC account to check the URLs and check the referring page where are they coming from.

Let us know how this goes.

    Thank you.

The referring page is the original post in Spanish, even the posts are not translated.

You can see here: https://imgur.com/a/vti6QHg that an article in english is indexed.

This is a huge problem, because Google is detecting as a duplicate content.

For now I blocked throw robots.txt, but this should not be happening.

    Thank you in advanced.

    Hello,

Google shouldn’t be treating this as duplicate because WPML is already adding the hreflang tags on the source code of your translated posts even if they are not accessible in the main language.

Can you please share the screenshot of the duplicate issue report from GSC instead?

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Hello,

Google has not detected has duplicate content, yet.

The issue is that Google indexed 89 articles that don’t exist. I don’t know why indexed all these URLS because they don’t exist and they are not in the sitemap.

    Thanks,

    Hello,

    Thank you for your patience.

The URL from your screenshot was already indexed, as you mentioned earlier.

However, it is already redirecting to the post of the main language.

In this case, since they are redirected already, they should be removed from the search results pages once the search engine bots realize that it is a redirection.

You can also ask for a recrawl and give Google some time for that:

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you.
