Connecting Search Console Creates second property

#630021

    Rank Math free

For all of my websites, I already have a domain property. But when I connect Rank Math to the Search Console it always creates another property even if I only select the domain property.

For example, if I have the sc-domain:website.com when I connect Rank Math I select the existing domain property. But I always have a new https://website.com property created and Rank Math initially links to the new property (https://website.com).

Is that intentional? I’m totally curious 🙂

What is the benefit of using that property instead? I don’t have apps or other “things” running on the domain so I am ok with the data from the domain property.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

Yes, we recommend connecting to your Google Search Console using the URL-prefix method (not sc:domain).

The URL-prefix property helps keep your sitemap in sync with Google Search Console as we submit it automatically for you. In addition, the domain property won’t work correctly on some sections of the Analytics module such as the IndexStatus.

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you.
