The code was showing because you have wp_debug mode turned on and set to display errors.

Please edit your wp-config.php file and modify the WP_DEBUG mode. The wp_debug line will usually look like this:

define( 'WP_DEBUG', true );

And the line to display the errors will look like this:

define( 'WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY', true );

Set either (or both) of the two to false to rectify the issue – so it does not come back again.
