change date on posts

    Rank Math free

    Hi
I’ve been reading your support articles on changing dates and post titles. As I understand it you do not advise changing these things because it changes the url and therefore, if someone clicks on an old link to the post, it will deliver a 404 page. But I want to update posts with a new date and change titles to better fit current search terms.
But I can’t work out what to do about this.
Does rank math automatically created a 301 page when I change a url or do I need to do this myself manually through Rank Math in the WP dashboard?
    Thanks.
    Kirsty

Thanks for the reply Gedax. Sorry – i don’t think my question was very clear. I didn’t want to know how to change the date. I know how to do that.

I want to know how to avoid problems with redirects if I change any part of the url. Does Rank Math automatically create a 301 or do I need to do that manually?
Also – what is the recommended approach from Rank Math for updating post dates? (Eg. I have an old post that I want to freshen up.)

    Kirsty

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

Apologies for the previous response as the user is not from our support team.

We’re assuming that you have dates in your post titles. If you change the title, WordPress should create the redirect from the previous URL.

However, if that didn’t happen, Rank Math has a feature to automatically redirect old slug to the new URL:

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you.
