    Hi;

    I have an issue where in the source code of my blog posts the canonical set by Rankmath is showing as http BUT in the backend in Rankmath they are set to https.

    Please can you advise why this is happening and how to fix it, because it is throwing up issues in Ahrefs Site Audit and is affecting my indexing.

    Thanks
    Tanya

  • Hello,

    Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

    Could you please share the affected URL so we can check as well?

    Meanwhile, go to WordPress Dashboard > Settings > General, and make sure that the “WordPress Address” and “Site Address” have the same setup.

    Meaning both URLs have the same exact protocols. They should be matching and not have a mismatch

    mismatch

    Also, ensure that you haven’t added a custom canonical URL in the Advanced tab while editing the page:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/how-to-change-canonical-url/#num-1-edit-the-post-page

    You should leave that field empty as Rank Math automatically sets a self-referencing canonical URL if they are set to index.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.

    Hi,

    It’s on ALL my blog post URLs you can find them all here:

    https://www.cantravelwilltravel.com/blog/

    I’ve already checked the wordpress and site URL, they are both the same https:

    Also all of the canonicals are correct and self referencing as per the rankmath default they show as https!

    But in the source code when you search canonical the rankmath canonical shows http.

    Please investigate more and let me know how to resolve this.

    Thanks
    Tanya

    Hi;

    I have just taken another look and there are actually two canonicals in the source code of each blog post and both of them seem to originate from Rankmath. The https version near the top of the post (which is correct) and an http version further down the page which should not be there.

    Please do take another look and advise how to fix this.

    Thanks
    Tanya

    Hello,

    We’ve checked some of your blog posts and we can confirm the Rank Math is generating the correct canonical URL on your pages.

    Please note that Rank Math only generates a single canonical on your pages and if you look closely, you’ll see the incorrect canonical URL is added outside of the Rank Math plugin credit.

    It seems like the incorrect canonical URL is added by your theme or any other plugin. To determine that, please follow this troubleshooting guide: https://rankmath.com/kb/check-plugin-conflicts/

    Hope that helps and please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thank you.
