Canonical URL being pulled

Hi I noticed today when I syndicated a blog that the canonical URL was being pulled when I pinned to Pinterest. When I shared the blog on Facebook it was fine and when I go to the URL it’s fine but it seems for Pinterest it’s not. Can someone help me with this please.

Here’s the URL I’m having issues with. This is the first time this has happened and I syndicate a lot of blogs and have never had this issue before. Thanx

  • Hello,

Thanks for contacting us and sorry for the inconvenience caused.

I checked the post with the URL debugger of Pinterest and it is showing a self-referencing canonical URL: https://developers.pinterest.com/tools/url-debugger/?link=https%3A%2F%2Fwomenblazingtrails.com%2Fretirement-quotes%2F

Please clear the cache of your site and check again.

Let us know if you need any other assistance.

I have cleared the cache.. a few times and it still shows that it’s going to wealth of geeks. Can someone please help me further with this?

    Hello,

The canonical URL is already showing correctly on your site, and the Pinterest validator shows the same. Could you please share the screenshot of the issue so we can check? You can use this tool and add the generated link here.

For troubleshooting, please also clear any server-level caching services on your site.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.

Did you receive the URL of the (screenshot) of my issue? I can’t believe it’s taking this long to fix this? Going on 4 days now?

    Hello,

When we check using the debugger tool, Pinterest is showing a self-referencing canonical URL. However, the canonical of the post is set as the URL of the Wealth of Geeks site. This could be the reason, Pinterest is showing that when you are posting it directly. Please edit the post and remove the canonical URL from the Advanced tab of the meta box so our plugin can add a self-referencing canonical URL: https://rankmath.com/kb/advanced-tab/#canonical-url

Once done, clear the cache of your and check again. Let us know how that goes.

    Looking forward to helping you.

Ok this is really confusing to me. If I remove the canonical URL, then rankmath just plugs in my own as the original? This is a syndicated post. It needs the canonical URL from Wealth of Geeks. I don’t understand. Also, why is this happening with this post and it has never happened with all the other posts I have syndicated? Thanx

    Hello,

Yes, Rank Math will automatically use your site URL instead of Wealth of Geeks used in the canonical URL if you have left it blank.

However, the correct canonical URL is already shown in the page’s source code, but Pinterest’s debugger tool still shows its own URL upon testing.

    Canonical

In this case, we recommend getting in touch with Pinterest support to investigate the issue further as Rank Math’s canonical URL is correctly placed.

Let us know how this goes.

    Thank you.
