If you have followed the steps to change the Google verification key, but the verification still fails through the Google Search Console, and the old verification token is still showing in the HTML, please ensure that you have correctly replaced the old verification code with the new one in your website’s code.
If you are still facing issues after verifying the code replacement, please try clearing your website’s cache and then verify your website once again in the Google Search Console.

Can you please confirm that you have an existing verification code on your website, but it was not installed using Rank Math? And you want to change and use Rank Math to verify your website. This will help narrow the issue down so we can help you investigate and resolve the issue.

We do have an existing verification code and it looks like it was installed through RankMath Pro by our prior marketing company. It is inside the script for RankMath Schema Pro and before the plugin in the HTML. Our website is bonclarken.org if you want to look at it.

Please reconnect your website first to your paid Rank Math account by following these steps:
https://rankmath.com/kb/website-not-shown-in-account/
Once done, remove the old verification key in General Settings and clear your website’s cache.
Also, clear the transients in Rank Math > Status & Tools > Database Tools tab
Check again the source code of your site if the verification meta tag is already removed.
If so, you can input your new tag in the General Settings.
